The first look at the 2010 ABoards X-Series
The new 2010 ABoards X-Series has finally arrived. The last of last years I think i have one 136 and the rest my favorites claimed. But for the first time I have a small X-Series again 133 is the sweet spot. At 190lbs 5'10" this is a solid board. I specifically like the rocker line. The Nobile 555 is a board that is made in the same location and shares similar features. I have found with these boards a slight rocker and I like to jump allot. So the trade becomes rocker to soften the landing or less rocker(a flatter board that stands even on its fins like a coffee table) where the board can rocket up wind.
In practice you have to digest that a couple things: One you you really at the end of the day do not need a crazy rocker board like a wake board. The wake board however is the BEST when in the right flat conditions. But many of us kite New England which is choppy :-) So to have a flat board is similar to why specific light wind boards are flat like a shaped plywood sheet. Now the great thing with this board is its great in the chop and has flex in the tips. So at the end of the day after throwing what I want, I spend less time thinking upwind. The board tracks well and really holds a screaming edge through the chop. So it a great recipe to have serious pop and performance but be flatter on the profile to allow some serious ground keeping control near a camera.
