Fall is in the air!
Fall KitingI am pretty psyched to see that there is wind again and the weather is changing. Not to be a bum about summer but really there was no dependable full days of wind. But the fall is great and this year I am ready! The 4/3 is the staple of any neoprene arsenal in my mind. The AMP 4/3 is Hyperflex's flagship suit that has a front zip. When the temps change we all know that entering the water with a wets suits will let in some water. Well the new suits are not sealed and taped and the water really does doesn't go there. But with a front zip the neoprene seals all the way around the back. The normal back zipper allows water to go in and out of the small of your back causeing flushing. Everytime you raise out of the water it exits and when you fall it enters again. So the front zip keeps you from getting that colds shiver. I personally have been torn on cold weather suits but have some insight: You can take a 4/3 and a Shorty and the result is a combo you can actually rock all year, I've done that in snow storms! For Drysuits I have not had much luck with a cheaper suit that I purchased. It leaked by the neck and I often joked that I just crash allot. But realistically my other close friends were really enjoying the Ocean Rodeo Pyro Pro's. After inspection you can see why the materials on the pro and the tapering to the body with flex panels. Now you really need two people to zip a suit that does not have a front entry and that is a major benefit with the Pyro Pro. The neck seals are the best going and overall they are bullet proof and keep you warm even out of the water. But I still look forward to getting a Hyperflex AMP full 6/5/4 with built in hood on the water. This suit is skin tight and the built in hood keeps water out. I like wearing my summer shorts maybe but either way you can expect to be out their in some gnarly condition Drysuit or Wet/Dry. Either way peaing in a suit is really not an option, but the Pyro Pro will open right up quick if thats the choice.
