2010 Ocean Rodeo Pyro Pro Dry Suit

This winter has been perfect with the Pyro Pro Drysuit! I really enjoy ridding to the local launch with my coffee in hand in my favorite ski gear. I generally wear a core layer (NO COTTON) like drywick material or Under Armour top and bottom. I then have a really good fleece (not the work freebies I've used before) and that's it along with the core layer. I find that if I go out warm I will sweat especially under my harness and it will steam you. So I have learned to show up comfy (I do wear wind breaker pants just not to look odd setting up) and pump up my kite and roll out my lines. Then I pull the suit on. If you try to use 2 layers of core I bet you will sweat in 35 degrees. If you go out light as I say and in 50 degrees no fleece you will be chilly to start. Like moutain biking I find a cold start is the right measure so in the end you allow the water to cool you. If you steam in there you are going to stand to be chilled in the wind. But if you get it right you will unzip after your session and throw a jacket on and be ready to roll!

When getting into the s drysuit be careful to get your fingers under the rubber and expand it over you heels so not to snap it over. Just pulling it over without helping it over after a few years will cause "that rip" you could have avoided. Also you want to do the neck in two steps. Rather than yank it over your head you would instead put it to your eyes and nose with your hands then get it down from there in a second step. So the whole time its in a donut shape and not all stretched and stuck over your head. Around your ankles and wrists just make sure that you pull them up a tad until the stretch just slightly. No need to cut circulation and stretch the suit out but make sure its actually water tight and no gaps.

Cutting the suit is not recommended and you rather put a large ball or a growler for beer(big bottle) ect to stretch the neck. Otherwise you likely might regret it. If you do I would cut a very, very small 1/2 centimeter at a time as the entire diameter adds up and you dont want to take to much rather keep trying and reducing. Also I think it you take a full centemeter just stop and session it to test before getting excited.

But at the end of the day the dry suit keeps you from your old wet suit habits. With a wet suit you'll be sitting in your car trying to peel a wet suit off. Then its like coming out of the warm steamy shower directly out your front door. But what it you want to kite again tomorrow? Suits dry! Also keeping a towel over you is a choir and really its just un-necessary. Ocean rodeo started this trend and sure delivers. The front zip allows you to get in and out by yourself. The breathable material is a bonus! The material is just like a really good ski jacket waterproof Gortex shell. Its also not bulky and has allot of strecth. You want to squat while holding your neck open to vent the excess air out so you dont float once submerged. This also though makes the bulk disapear as it then clings to you.

The Pyro Pro makes fall, winter, and spring easy and its not a luxury considering your addiction! You need one! Really... Kitesurfer.us has your size and they don't change every year so the value is there.
